The short answer

The DisplayGifts Pro-Collector, because it publishes a UV figure and locks

Most display cases make no UV claim at all. This one publishes 98% UV-protective acrylic, holds 36 cards, and mounts to a wall with a lock — which is the combination that matters when a wall of slabs lives in a shared space. Check shelf spacing against the thickest slab you own before buying any case.

A display case has three jobs and most products do one of them. It should keep dust off, it should keep light off, and it should hold the slab securely at the size the slab actually is. The third one sounds trivial and is where most cases quietly fail.

1. Best overall

DisplayGifts Pro-Collector Display Case

DisplayGifts · A wall display you can lock

DNo product photo

A wall-mountable, lockable case with UV-protective acrylic and shelving sized for graded slabs. The lock and the UV acrylic are the two features that separate a display case from a shadow box.

Why it takes this slot: A published UV figure, a lockable wall mount and shelf spacing sized for slabs rather than raw cards.

Capacity
Holds 36 cards per the manufacturer
UV protection
98% UV-protective acrylic per the manufacturer
Mounting
Lockable wall mount
Material
Wood frame with acrylic front

What it does well

  • The manufacturer publishes a UV figure, which most display cases do not
  • Lockable, which matters with a wall of slabs in a shared space
  • Shelf spacing fits slabs without removing cards from their cases

Where it falls short

  • Fixed shelf spacing is tight for thicker BGS cases
  • Costs more than an acrylic stand by a wide margin

What it does well

  • Per-grader sizing avoids the universal-fit compromise
  • Clean acrylic look that suits a shelf rather than a wall

Where it falls short

  • Buying per grader means more than one product if your collection is mixed
  • No published UV figure on most models

GradedGuard PSA Slab Sleeves

GradedGuard · Scratch protection on a PSA slab

GNo product photo

A sleeve cut specifically to PSA slab dimensions. The slab protects the card; nothing protects the slab, and a scratched case is what drops a slab's resale appeal.

Why it takes this slot: A case protects a slab from dust; a sleeve protects it from the handling that gets it into the case.

Fits
PSA slabs
Purpose
Protects the case from scratches, scuffs and handling wear
Format
Slip-on sleeve, sold in multipacks

What it does well

  • Precision fit means the slab does not slide inside the sleeve
  • Keeps the case presentable through repeated handling and shipping
  • Cheap relative to the slab it protects

Where it falls short

  • PSA-specific — confirm the fit before buying for BGS, CGC or SGC
  • A sleeve does not protect against impact

UV is the claim worth paying for

Light is what fades a card, and a graded case does comparatively little about it. Only a minority of display products publish a UV figure at all. Where a manufacturer states a specific percentage of UV blocked, that is a checkable claim and it is the main reason to pay more for one case over another. Where no figure is published, assume none — we do not infer a figure a manufacturer has not stated. More on that in best UV protection display cases.

Fit is per grading company

PSA, BGS, SGC and CGC cases are different sizes, and BGS is the thickest of them. A case advertised as universal is compromising somewhere, usually in shelf spacing. If your collection is mixed, check the fit against the thickest slab you own rather than the most common one — PSA slab dimensions covers what is and is not published, including the fact that circulating figures disagree.

Where to put it

Away from windows, away from direct downlights, and away from anywhere with a humidity swing. A UV figure reduces a risk; it does not remove it, and a case in direct afternoon sun is a case cooking its contents slowly. How to display graded cards covers placement properly.

Common questions

Do graded card display cases protect against UV?
Only the ones that say so. A minority of products publish a UV figure — a stated percentage of UV blocked — and those are the ones worth paying more for. Where no figure is published, assume none.
Will a display case fit BGS slabs?
Not always. BGS cases are the thickest of the four majors, and shelf spacing designed around PSA dimensions can be tight. Check against the thickest slab you own.
How many graded cards should I display?
As many as a wall sensibly holds — which is far fewer than most collections contain. Store the rest slotted and dark.
Should slabs be sleeved inside a display case?
It is worth doing for slabs you handle, because the handling into and out of the case is where cases get scratched. In a sealed display the sleeve matters less.
